David Waite, affectionately known as Dai, unexpectedly passed away on Monday, 10th June 2024, at the age of 42. His sudden departure has left his family and friends heartbroken. Vicki Jones shared the devastating news on Facebook, writing, "At 11:59am on the 10/06/2024 our world came crashing down and we lost a massive part of our hearts. A true legend known to everyone as Dai (David Waite) suddenly passed away. He had the biggest of hearts that was obviously too big for this world. As a family, we are truly heartbroken."
Dai was a beloved son, grandson, father, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. His passing has deeply affected everyone who knew him. Vicki Jones expressed her gratitude for the outpouring of support, stating, "We can’t thank everyone enough for all their kind words and support during this difficult time. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who helped on Monday, from the neighbours to the paramedics, Gwent Police, and Wales Air Ambulance. You all went above and beyond, and we can’t thank you enough."
The news has prompted an array of heartfelt messages from friends and family. Leigh Thomas shared, "Still can’t believe you’ve gone cuz, miss and luv you always xxx." Zoe Pearce added, "Absolutely awful news. I’m so sorry to all the family xxx." Many echoed these sentiments, highlighting how much Dai meant to them and how greatly he will be missed.
In response to this tragic loss, a fundraiser has been organized by Dean Lewis to support Dai’s family. The campaign aims to raise £1,000 to help them during this incredibly sad time. Dean Lewis, reflecting on his memories with Dai, wrote, "Dai was an approachable, funny, and loveable man, who I spent the first years of my musical life sharing the stage with, creating many fond memories that made people laugh for years after. In memory of Dai, I will be climbing Snowdon on Monday the 17th of June to raise money for Dai’s family."
Rachel Williams has already contributed £25 to the fundraiser, and Dean encourages others to donate as much as they can to support Dai’s family. The community’s collective effort aims to provide some relief to the family during this difficult period.
Dai’s passing is a stark reminder of how precious life is and the significant impact one person can have on so many lives. He will be remembered as a kind, generous, and loving individual who brought joy and laughter to those around him. Rest in peace, Dai.
