The late Cody Blavat from Jeffersonville has left a community in mourning. His family and friends are now rallying to give him a proper burial. The effort to support his family during this difficult time has been spearheaded by Shannon Balentine, who created a GoFundMe campaign.
Shannon Balentine stated, "I am creating this GoFundMe to help the family of Cody Blavat to lay him to rest and help them with the expenses that are to come. Any money left after the funeral expenses will be divided among Cody’s children." As of now, the fundraiser has raised $1,595 out of the $10,000 goal, with contributions from 19 donors. The top donation of $500 was made by Kristie Paris, followed by Alyssa Wasick’s $100 donation and Chris Kroh’s recent donation of $50.
Cody’s passing has deeply affected those who knew him. Brandy Ray Summers expressed her grief on Facebook, saying, "I’m so lost for words at the moment. Please help support us during this time of need to give Cody Blavat a proper burial so he can rest in peace now. Fly High Angel and please watch over us all." The sentiment was echoed by Heather Naville Cooley, who commented, "So sorry for your loss, Brandy," and Evan Barthold, who added, "Sorry for your loss."
This collective effort underscores the community’s support for Cody Blavat’s family, highlighting the importance of coming together during times of loss. The funds raised will not only cover the immediate funeral costs but also provide some financial relief for Cody’s children, ensuring his legacy is honored and remembered.
