Christopher Kenui, a respected and beloved member of the Kahului community, passed away unexpectedly on his birthday, June 19, 2024, due to a sudden medical emergency at his home. He was 45 years old. Chris was known for his dedication to his family and his service to the community as a member of the Maui Police Department for two decades.
Chris is survived by his wife Lynn and their three children, Kea, Koa, and Kama. His friend Kaleo Alconcel, who is organizing a fundraiser to support the Kenui family, shared the news of Chris’s untimely death. The fundraiser aims to raise $10,000 to cover funeral services, a burial plot, and other unforeseen expenses. As of now, $700 has been raised through four donations.
Throughout his career, Chris served as a patrolman in Wailuku, Kahului, and the Upcountry areas, where he was known for his warmhearted nature and genuine kindness. His commitment to his work left a lasting impact on many lives. Outside of his professional life, Chris had a passion for working on cars and was a skilled mechanic. He often shared his expertise and lent a helping hand to others, embodying a spirit of generosity and support.
Kaleo Alconcel expressed deep gratitude for any contributions made to the fundraiser, emphasizing the importance of community support during this difficult time for Lynn and the children. Chris’s legacy of service and compassion continues to inspire those who knew him, and the community is coming together to honor his memory and support his family in their time of need.
