The late Chris Blackwell was from Picayune, Mississippi. His family is in urgent need of financial support to cover his funeral expenses, a heartbreaking necessity following his unexpected passing late Monday night. Chris’s family, particularly his son Kailob, is struggling with the sudden loss, as Chris did not have life insurance to cover these costs.
Destany Reppel, Chris’s life partner and the organizer of the GoFundMe campaign, expressed their collective grief: “Our family is completely devastated, and as most young men his age, he didn’t have life insurance. I’m making this GoFundMe in hopes to ease the burden from us all, especially his mother, so that we can give Christopher the beautiful service he deserves.”
Dennis Traina, a close friend, also shared his sorrow on Facebook, urging the community to assist: “Hey friends. One of my dear long time friends Chris Blackwell has tragically passed and his family is in need of some financial help and support to cover his funeral expenses. If you have it in your heart and are able to give any amount, please consider helping this family in their time of need.”
The GoFundMe campaign has set a goal of $10,500, with $320 raised so far through four donations. Contributors like Justin Bordelon, who donated $200, and others have started to show their support, but more help is needed.
Destany further asks for prayers for their son Kailob, Chris’s step-son Jace, and the entire family: “Please pray for our son Kailob, for his step-son Jace, his life partner and Kailob’s bonus mom Kelsi, pray for his mother, his stepdad, his siblings, nieces and nephews, and all who loved this man so dearly. These next days are going to feel nearly impossible and our lives are forever changed.”
Chris Blackwell was a beloved part of his community, and the support from friends and family reflects the deep impact he had on those around him. As Destany poignantly notes, “Fly high our beautiful angel! We will let family and friends know service details as soon as we can.”
