The late Chase Shepard James, from Winnebago, Minnesota, was tragically involved in a severe motorcycle accident on Friday night, from which he could not recover. His family and friends are now faced with the heartbreaking task of organizing his funeral and addressing the financial burdens left in the wake of his untimely passing.
Chase did not have life insurance, which has prompted his sister-in-law, Alesha Stauffer, to create a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral and burial costs, as well as any medical bills. The fundraiser, established just yesterday, aims to raise $10,000. As of now, $525 has been raised from six donations.
Miranda AW, a close friend of Chase from middle school, shared her thoughts on Facebook: "If you are able, please consider donating to this family in their time of loss. Chase was one of my best middle school friends and a cherished friend to my family."
Alesha Stauffer, organizing the fundraiser, expressed the family’s gratitude for the outpouring of support: "I have been reading all of the messages and stories about Chase and can just tell that he has impacted so many lives. Please keep posting all those memories, pictures, and stories to his Facebook page…his family appreciates them."
The contributions from the community, including donations from Laura Stevermer ($100), Brooke Ziegler ($25), Connie Clay ($200), John Sonich ($50), and Janet Gilreath ($50), highlight the collective effort to support Chase’s family during this difficult time. If additional funds are raised, they will be used to set up savings accounts for Chase’s four children, ensuring some financial security for their future.
Alesha also emphasized the importance of continued thoughts and prayers for Chase’s family as they navigate life without him. "Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers as they try to go through life without Chase. Thank you in advance."
The tragic loss of Chase Shepard James has left a profound impact on those who knew him, and the community’s support underscores the deep connections he forged during his life.
