The late Carter Welch was from Barre, Vermont. Carter passed away in a tragic car accident on June 28th, leaving behind a grieving family and community. He was only 19 years old and had his whole life ahead of him. His parents, Chrissy Singleton and Ken Welch, along with his little sister Callie and big sister Caitlin, are in need of support during this difficult time.
A fundraiser organized by Tami Deblois has been set up to help ease the financial burden on Carter’s family. The goal is to raise $12,000, and so far, $1,250 has been collected from 14 donations. The community is rallying together, with recent donations from Roderick Lang ($100), Heather Slayton ($200), and Dena Cox ($50).
Hannah Cannon shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, remembering Carter’s kindness and the bond he shared with his family. "Carter Welch, you are already missed by so many. Your smile and your kindness will always be remembered! The view from my garden as I water it in the evening when you would be tinkering on your truck or a lawn mower will not be the same anymore. Our frequent little chats will be missed. Carter was such an amazing young man with his whole life ahead of him. He was an incredible bowler and bowled with so many youth of the area, including my son Matthias Cannon, for years. He was a dedicated and humble Boy Scout and had so many adventures with his Dad, Ken Welch, including hunting, fishing, camping, and riding along with his Dad in the truck."
Hannah continued, "Carter shared a special bond with his mom, Chrissy Singleton. He carried himself with a calming demeanor and had a huge heart. Carter was the best big brother to Callie! She is going to miss you bringing her to the bus or picking her up, lawn mower rides in the yard, playing ball, hanging out in the sandbox, and everything else you did with her to help her know she had a big brother that will always be there to protect her. You will have to do that from the other side now and watch over your sweet little sister."
Patricia Beaudoin also expressed her sorrow, "Very sweet. You will be missed Carter."
The GoFundMe page highlights the family’s unpreparedness for such a tragic loss and their need for financial assistance to cover funeral and other final expenses. Any contribution is greatly appreciated, and updates on service dates will be provided when available.
Carter’s passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. The community’s support through donations and kind words reflects the impact he had on those around him. May Carter Welch rest in peace.
