Captain Peter J. Cabral sadly passed away on May 13th, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and community spirit. His daughter, Ashley Cabral, is organizing a unique celebration of his life at the end of McMillan Pier, where they will spread his ashes from a small handmade wicker Viking ship set ablaze off Wood End.
Peter was known for his kind and loving heart, always ready to help a friend or fellow fisherman. He opened his doors to those in need, fed the hungry, and served as a father figure to many. He was a supportive and loving father and grandfather, deeply cherished by his family.
Ashley has created a fundraiser titled "Support Captain Peter Cabral’s Final Viking Voyage" to help cover the costs of this celebration, including the rental of a tent, which has proven to be more expensive than anticipated. As of now, $1,050 has been raised out of the $4,000 goal, with donations from community members who were touched by Peter’s generosity.
The fundraiser details Ashley’s heartfelt plea for support during this difficult time. She expressed her profound bond with her father and her hope to honor and celebrate his life, despite the immense loss she feels. The community’s response has been encouraging, with donations coming from Michael Costa, Cape Cab, Courtney Guertin, Kelli Costa, and Henry Souza.
Ashley invites all family and friends to join the celebration, sharing stories and memories of Peter, to truly honor his life and legacy. The event promises music, good food, and a heartfelt send-off fitting for a man who meant so much to so many.
