The late Candice Blankenship Hudson from Lynchburg passed away suddenly and unexpectedly due to heart failure and septic shock at the young age of 43. This tragic loss has left her family, especially her stepfather Billy Blankenship, struggling to cope not only emotionally but also financially, as Candice had no life insurance.
Nikki Wade, who organized a fundraiser on behalf of Deborah Blankenship, explained their situation: “Our stepfather, Billy Blankenship, who has been our father and raised my sisters and me as his own, lost his only daughter Candice very suddenly. We’re asking for help to alleviate the financial burden off our parents so they can focus on this unexpected loss and healing.”
The GoFundMe campaign, created yesterday, has raised $800 of its $5,000 goal from 14 donations. William Ware contributed the top donation of $200, while Guthrie Brenda and Cora Fitzgerald donated $50 each.
Kevin Rosser, a close family friend, posted on Facebook urging the community for support: “Attention recovery community and friends and supporters: A person near and dear to me lost their daughter suddenly. I knew Candice personally as well, and she struggled with our dilemma. As a result, she didn’t have the means or resources, and the burden is upon her father. Please help us give one of our own a proper burial.”
Debbie Blankenship expressed her gratitude, replying to Kevin’s post: “Thank you, Kevin.” Other friends like Tory Meeks also showed their support: “I sent a little. I hope it helps. Prayers for the family.”
This fundraising effort reflects the community’s desire to come together and support the Blankenship family during this difficult time. The campaign aims to help Billy give his daughter a proper farewell and ease the family’s financial strain during their mourning period.
