The late Betty Kamlo, from Wichita, Kansas, passed away on June 13th, 2024, after two years of battling the aftermath of a stroke and brain hemorrhage. Her husband, Phoenix Kamlo, is now faced with the overwhelming task of arranging her funeral with limited financial resources.
Phoenix Kamlo has organized a fundraiser titled "Help Honor the Life of Betty Kamlo" with a goal of $1,500 to cover the funeral expenses. As of now, the fundraiser has raised $145 from four donations. Phoenix shared on the fundraiser page, "I find myself with little money to take care of her funeral expenses; I believe with some creativity I can get most of what needs done taken care of for $1500."
Phoenix’s heartfelt plea has already garnered support from friends and community members. Katie Doornbos contributed $50, and an anonymous donor also gave $50. Jim Z and Bryce Frank donated $20 and $25 respectively.
On Facebook, Phoenix’s friends expressed their condolences and support. Phoenix Kamlo wrote, "Rest in peace, my beautiful sweet Betty," to which Elliot H-d replied, "Thinking of you, Phoenix." Kiana McKinzie also shared her love, commenting, "Love you!" Phoenix responded, "Love you too, sis."
Patricia Sullivan Snyder offered a comforting Bible verse, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4 ESV), echoing the community’s sentiments of sympathy and support during this difficult time.
Phoenix’s words reflect the deep love and dedication he has for Betty, as well as the financial strain he faces in ensuring she receives a proper farewell. The community’s support, both emotional and financial, plays a crucial role in helping him navigate this challenging period.
