The late Benn Johnson lost his life in a tragic car accident on Monday night at the age of 22. The accident abruptly ended the life of a young man whose journey had just begun. Benn was deeply cherished by his family and friends, and his sudden passing has left them devastated and struggling to come to terms with their loss.
Jordan Houldsworth, a close friend, is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to help cover Benn’s funeral expenses. The fundraiser, created today, aims to raise £5,000, and so far, £500 has been collected through three donations. Jordan contributed £200, Tracy Dexter donated £200, and Kelly Gutteridge added £100.
Jordan shared heartfelt words on Facebook, expressing the pain of having to ask for help: "I should not be writing this, not now! not ever! But on Monday night the much-loved Benn Johnson lost his life in a car accident at the age of 22, his life hadn’t even started yet and it was taken away from him in the blink of an eye!"
He further explained the purpose of the fundraiser, stating, "All donations will be given to his mum and dad, Kath and Roy, to put towards the funeral! Just to ease the pressure of self-employment in such a life-changing and devastating time for everybody that knew him."
The community has shown their support, with many sharing their thoughts and contributions on Facebook. Tracy Dexter commented, "Donated and this is such a good idea, xx," while Nell Johnson added, "This is lovely Jordan Houldsworth." Georgia May Shaw also showed her support, writing "xx."
Benn Johnson was a beloved grandson, son, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend. His unique personality touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. The collective effort to raise funds for his funeral underscores the love and respect the community has for Benn and their desire to give him the farewell he deserves.
