The late Barry David Shaw was a beloved son who recently passed away, leaving his family and friends in deep sorrow. His mother, Diana Mooney, is struggling to cope with the loss of her only son while also managing the financial burden of his funeral. Diana shared her grief and the family’s situation on Facebook, urging friends and community members to help through a GoFundMe campaign organized by Katie Horrocks.
Diana expressed her heartbreak, writing, "As you all know I’ve recently lost my funny, naughty, loving son Barry. Please take a look at the GoFundMe page I’ve had made, and if you can make a donation, it would ease a tiny bit of stress from burying my boy."
The fundraiser aims to raise £4,000 to cover Barry’s funeral expenses. As of today, £90 has been raised from four donations. Diana reflected on her devastating loss, mentioning her eldest daughter Amanda, who also passed away nine years ago. "I consider myself a strong Mother/Nanny/Friend who always finds a way no matter what life throws at me. But to now go through the pain of burying a second child of mine is something I never in my wildest nightmares thought possible," Diana shared on the GoFundMe page.
Friends and family have rallied around Diana, offering condolences and support. Nancy Mooney commented, "He walked through a storm hold his head up high and don’t be afraid of the dark. R.I.P Barry big hugs cuz he’s at peace." Other friends, like Linda Goldie and Di Nitti, expressed their support with words of comfort and donations.
Diana’s plea highlights the emotional and financial challenges of losing a loved one. "The financial burden of unforeseen funeral costs feels like a step I can’t manage alone. I’ve seen the power of Facebook and how people band together for each other in times like this, so please, any contribution would be so greatly appreciated by me and my daughters, Katie and Nicolette, to help with some of the financial stress of this situation," she wrote.
As the community continues to gather support, Diana and her family hope to find some relief from their financial burdens while they mourn the loss of Barry David Shaw.
