The late Ava Rose Mcclelland was from New Bern, North Carolina. Tragically, on June 29, 2024, Ava, an 8-year-old girl, attended a pool party with her father, Dave, and stepmother, Marsha. During the party, while the children played and the adults socialized, Ava was found lifeless at the bottom of the pool. Despite immediate medical attention and being lifeflighted to Carolina Health in New Bern, Ava passed away before arrival.
Her mother, Lindsey, and the entire community are devastated by this sudden loss. Samantha Stevens, Lindsey’s sister, has organized a fundraiser to support the family with burial expenses. As of now, the fundraiser has raised $250 out of the $15,000 goal from five donations.
Elizabeth Golimowski shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook, requesting prayers for Ava and her family: "Update that I do not want to type- Ava Rose is now in heaven with her Aunt Rose. Please pray for her mom and our family."
The community has shown an outpouring of support through messages and prayers on social media:
- Carla Koonce Casey: "God please please spare Ava, and please be with her family during this difficult time."
- Dawn Marie Miller: "Dear Lord please breathe life into Ava’s lungs, heart, brain, and all of her body. Heal her in your most holy name…Amen."
- Crystal Bartlett: "Sending prayers up."
- Wilkins Mike Jenny: "God please breathe life into Ava and give her family strength."
- Bear Bundy: "Prayers for all of you! I pray Lord that you will do your miracles of healing and may she rise up healed."
The family is grappling with unimaginable grief, and the community’s support is vital in helping them navigate this tragic time. Samantha Stevens, in her plea for help, emphasizes the importance of community support: "Your donations will help Lindsey focus on grieving her beloved Ava Rose. No contribution is too small, and your prayers are equally cherished."
As the community rallies around Lindsey and her family, the collective prayers and donations provide a semblance of comfort and support in their time of need.
