Anthony Baynie, a beloved family man from Thornleigh, New South Wales, passed away on June 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with terminal cancer. Anthony, who had bravely faced cancer twice before, was diagnosed with metastasized adenocarcinoma just a month ago. This aggressive cancer had spread throughout his lungs, ribs, and spine, leading to his untimely death.
Anthony’s wife, Annabel, a dedicated midwife, had exhausted all her leave to care for him during his illness. Together, they have three children: Lucy (21), Benji (12), and Olive (9). The Baynie family is now grappling with immense grief and significant financial stress, as Anthony was unable to secure life insurance after his initial cancer diagnosis in 2012.
A GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Jen Francis and Rose Goode to support Annabel and her children with funeral, medical, and daily expenses. As of now, $11,000 AUD has been raised out of a $50,000 goal, with contributions from 44 donors. Scott Riddle made the top donation of $1,000, while Xiaoxi Yu gave the most recent donation of $50.
Rachel Sparks, a friend of the family, shared her heartfelt message on Facebook: "Yesterday, one of Grace’s classmates lost her dad. Anthony, a loving and devoted family man, was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer and passed away much sooner than anyone expected. He had bravely battled cancer twice before but couldn’t secure life insurance. Annabel, his wife, and a dedicated midwife has exhausted all her leave caring for him."
Cherry Amit Gulati also expressed her sorrow, saying, "This is soo devastating," to which Rachel replied, "Cherry agree, I’m absolutely devastated for them."
Anthony’s resilience and positivity were a source of strength for his family and community, despite the numerous health challenges he faced over the years. Annabel described their marriage as a "real-life fairytale," and Anthony as "the finest man I have ever met."
The community’s support is now more crucial than ever to help the Baynie family navigate through this difficult time. Contributions to the GoFundMe campaign and sharing their story can provide much-needed relief to this grieving family.
