Amy Algaze, a beloved member of the East Northport community, passed away on Saturday, June 21st, at the age of 36. Her death has left her family and friends heartbroken, struggling to cope with the loss of a woman known for her incredible energy, peace, and understanding.
Amy’s brother, Sean Algaze, has taken to GoFundMe to seek support for covering her funeral and memorial costs. In his heartfelt post, Sean described Amy as a person who always made others feel safe and heard. "Being around Amy, you always felt so safe and heard. There’s nothing Amy would not do for her family or anyone she truly cared for," Sean shared. Amy was also dedicated to taking care of their retired mother, working two jobs to ensure her well-being.
Amy’s spirit was described as pure and kind, qualities that shone through in her actions and interactions with others. Sean expressed his deep sorrow, saying, "I love you so much, Amy. I miss you with every part of my being. I promise to do the best I can to take care of mom, just like you did."
The family is facing significant financial challenges as Amy did not have life insurance and left behind some debts. Sean is planning to move their mother to Florida to live with him, his fiancé, and their one-year-old daughter, Avery. This move is aimed at providing their mother with the love and support she deserves.
The community has rallied around the Algaze family, with many friends and acquaintances expressing their condolences on Facebook. Sean Algaze posted, "I can’t believe I lost another sibling. Amy, I hope you’re with our brother Russell, along with our family that’s been watching over us. I’ve made a lot of promises I never kept. But I swear I’ll keep this one to you. I will take care of our family just as you worked so hard to do. Thank you, Amy. I love you."
Messages of sympathy and support have poured in. Shaun Kehoe wrote, "I’m so sorry for your loss bro. My condolences to you and your family. If you need anything, let me know." Milena Roberts added, "Oh my! So sorry for your loss. Amy was a wonderful, kind person."
The GoFundMe campaign, "In Memory Of My Beautiful Sister, Amy Algaze," organized by Sean, aims to raise $10,000 to cover the funeral and related expenses. As of now, it has raised $25 from one donor, AJ Polis.
In these difficult times, the Algaze family appreciates any support they can receive to honor Amy’s memory and help them navigate through their loss.
