The late Amber Mccollom was a 14-year-old girl from Windsor, Ontario. On Sunday, June 1st, 2024, Amber suffered a severe asthma attack in the evening. Despite the immediate efforts, including CPR performed while waiting for EMS to arrive, she was intubated at Windsor Regional and later airlifted to London’s Children’s Hospital. Amber remained in ICU with no brain activity and was on life support. On June 6th, 2024, the family prepared for the inevitable.
Krystal Deschamps, Amber’s aunt, has organized a GoFundMe campaign to support Amber’s parents, Kim and Bee Couvillon, and her four brothers, Jake (28), Ashlee (27), Andrew (24), Carter (9, just shy of 10), and Curtis (9). Krystal describes the heartache the family is experiencing as they face this unimaginable loss. The campaign aims to raise $15,000 for funeral and living expenses, as Kim and Bee are unable to work during this time. So far, $250 CAD has been raised through three donations.
The tragic news has deeply affected the community. Many have expressed their sorrow on Facebook. Angel F commented, "My heart just breaks. Such a sweet girl taken too soon. Thinking and praying for Amber’s family and friends. So much loss lately." Other comments include expressions of heartbreak and condolences from individuals like Constance Frederick, Ferrarelli Maria, Marisa Migliore, and Mishele McFerg, among others.
Amber was described as full of life, always ready to help a friend, and possessing the heart of an angel. Her passing leaves a significant void in the hearts of her family and friends. The GoFundMe page is a testament to the collective grief and the support that the community is trying to offer during this difficult time.
