The late Alan Hutchinson was a beloved husband, father, and friend from England. His recent passing has left his family and friends in deep sorrow. Christine Bowron, who organized a fundraiser in his memory, is leading efforts to support Pancreatic Cancer UK. Collection boxes will also be available at the funeral to further support this underfunded organization.
Christine shared their heartbreaking journey, revealing that on 17th September 2023, Al was diagnosed with an inoperable tumour in his pancreas. Tragically, he passed away one week ago, 8 months, 5 days, and approximately 8 hours after receiving the diagnosis. "It all still seems so unreal. He was here, now he’s gone," Christine expressed.
Pancreatic cancer is notoriously difficult to detect early, often resulting in poor long-term survival rates. Christine highlighted the urgent need for more funding for research into this deadly disease. "If you are diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, your long-term survival chances are minimal, and yet funding for research on this particular type of cancer is also minimal, especially when compared to other types of cancer," she stated.
The fundraiser, which aims to raise £222, has already received its first donation of £10 from Becky Straughan. Christine is hopeful that the community will rally together to support the cause, helping to give others a better chance in the future. "I would like to give as much money to Pancreatic Cancer UK in Al’s memory and hope that it contributes to giving others a better chance," Christine added.
In a touching tribute on Facebook, Christine reiterated the importance of every contribution, no matter how small. "Every penny will be gratefully received by this underfunded organisation. Thank you," she wrote.
Alan Hutchinson’s memory lives on through the love and efforts of those who knew him, with Christine leading the charge to make a difference in the fight against pancreatic cancer.
