The late Alan Cordova was from Shoshone, Idaho. The community and his family are grappling with his tragic and unexpected loss over the weekend. Alan was known for his kind, easygoing nature and loving heart. Mitchyy Chavez Cruz, in a heartfelt Facebook post, described Alan as a "kind, easygoing, loving, intelligent kid with a good heart."
In the wake of this tragedy, the community has rallied to support Alan’s family, the Cordovas, who have always been known for their generosity and kindness. Mitchyy Chavez Cruz shared that the Cordovas had been especially supportive during their brother’s soccer years and high school, treating him like family. To reciprocate this kindness, the community has organized a raffle to help Alan’s family during this difficult time. Mitchyy Chavez Cruz emphasized, "All the funds earned will go to the Cordova family to help them, especially now when they most need our community’s love and support."
Several community members have offered donations for the raffle. Karrie Swaner and David T. Swaner shared their willingness to contribute through Facebook, while Rosario Paredes announced donations of a $250 party decoration from AAZ decorations and a $100 faja from Azul fajas and shapewear, adding, "Dios lo tenga en Su Santa Gloria."
Lacey Swainston Loughmiller, a bakery owner, expressed her intention to donate baked goods or gift certificates, reflecting on how much she enjoyed having Alan in her classroom, calling him "a sweet young man." Soledad Vargas pledged a Brazilian blowout worth $220 from Solfull Beauty, while Leslie Zuñiga offered $75 off a full set of lashes and a custom fine line tattoo.
Jenny Cruz, along with other community organizers, has been instrumental in setting up the GoFundMe page to raise additional funds. As of today, the fundraiser, organized by Michelle Cruz, has raised $870 of its $5,000 goal. Contributions have poured in from various supporters, including a $200 donation from Kevin Tellez and a $100 donation from Rosa Zavala, who was the first to contribute.
In these efforts, the community of Shoshone has shown incredible solidarity and support for the Cordova family, reflecting the deep impact Alan had on those around him. As the fundraiser continues, the community’s love and support aim to ease the Cordova family’s burden during this time of profound grief.
