The late Addam Shaeffer was from Wilmington, Ohio. The community and his family are grappling with the unexpected loss of Addam, who passed away on Saturday, June 15th. Addam, 39, was a single father of three beautiful girls, aged 6, 10, and 12. He was a loving brother, a dear son, and a cherished friend to many.
Mercedes Mitchell, Addam’s family member, is organizing a GoFundMe campaign to support his funeral expenses and provide for his daughters. "As many already know, we have lost a piece of our family unexpectedly and are still trying to grieve and hold each other together," Mercedes shared. "Addam was a very loved guy and will be missed so much."
The GoFundMe campaign has raised $6,665 of its $8,000 goal through 38 donations. The funds will help cover funeral costs and support Addam’s daughters as they transition to life without their father. Contributions have come from various donors, including a recent donation of $250 from Chandra Burns and a top donation of $1,500 from an anonymous donor.
The outpouring of support and condolences from the community has been immense. Traci Creditt Harner quoted 1 Peter 5:7 KJV, offering spiritual comfort: "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." Jamie Horton Vires expressed willingness to donate directly to the funeral home, and numerous others shared their sympathy and prayers.
"Mercedes, I’m so very sorry. Sending lots of hugs and prayers for your family," Traci wrote. Kristen Sizemore added, "So sorry girl. Sending prayers." Verna Young and Alisha Kleuskens Roberts also extended their condolences, with Verna stating, "Condolences to you and all your family."
Sandra Lynn Locher, deeply feeling the family’s pain, commented, "I feel your family’s pain as I do myself. I’m so sorry, prayers for strength and some kind of comfort during this time and future, and may God comfort and hold the girls tightly. All my love to each of you, Addam will be loved and missed always."
Despite the sorrow and financial burden, the support from friends, family, and the community underscores the collective effort to help Addam’s daughters and honor his memory. The fundraiser reflects the family’s gratitude and their reliance on community solidarity during this difficult time.
