Adan Nazario Munoz, a beloved resident of San Bernardino, California, tragically passed away on May 8, 2024. His family is now grappling with the loss and the ensuing financial burdens. Adan was a devoted 42-year-old husband, father, son, and friend who lost his battle with lymphatic lymphoma, a type of cancer he had valiantly fought twice.
Adan’s first encounter with cancer began on December 11, 2019. After six months of rigorous treatment, he went into remission, bringing a period of relief and joy to his family. However, in August 2023, Adan discovered a small lump on his neck, which led to a biopsy revealing the return of his cancer. Determined to fight once again, he began chemotherapy. Unfortunately, just three weeks into his treatment, doctors found that the cancer had spread to his left lung and chest, presenting a more aggressive form of the disease.
Despite undergoing six cycles of treatment, Adan’s condition worsened when the cancer spread to his brain, affecting his left eye. His oncologist recommended a Car T cell transplant as his last hope. The transplant was initially scheduled for April 23, but complications arose when his cells did not reproduce as expected. After extracting more cells and sending them to another laboratory, the transplant was rescheduled for May 9 at City of Hope. Tragically, Adan passed away just one day before the scheduled transplant.
His wife, Ely, and their three daughters, aged 8, 9, and 18, are now faced with the immense challenge of moving forward without him. To help cover the expenses related to his funeral and support his daughters, a GoFundMe campaign has been organized by Chuck Glussman. The fundraiser, titled "Support Ely’s Family After Adan’s Loss," aims to raise $10,000. As of now, only $50 has been donated.
Ely’s heartfelt plea on the fundraiser page underscores the family’s dire need for assistance. Any contributions will go towards funeral costs, bills, and providing for their daughters during this difficult time.
