William Brooks Day, also known as Bill, passed away on Sunday, the 15th of September. Bill was a true original, known for his sharp wit and a wicked sense of humor. He had a deep love for nature and shared his vast knowledge of the outdoors with his children and grandchildren. Through his gentle conversations, Bill taught his loved ones how to fish, appreciate native flowers, identify birds, and savor the beauty of life. He was endlessly patient and always took the time to listen.
After battling cancer for ten months, Bill spent his final days in Albany Hospice, where he received compassionate and comforting care. The hospice allowed Bill to have a peaceful passing, giving his family the space to say their goodbyes in a supportive environment. His family is deeply grateful to the Albany Hospice team for their kindness and care during this difficult time.
In honor of Bill’s memory, Jennifer Dunn has organized a fundraiser benefiting Albany Hospice Inc. The goal is to raise AUD $5,000, and so far, AUD $725 has been raised through 10 donations. Sherylee Fardon, who made the top donation of AUD $100, and several other generous individuals, including an anonymous donor, have contributed to this cause. The family’s wish is to help Albany Hospice continue providing the same exceptional care to other families in need.
Bill’s legacy of love for nature, his patience, and the knowledge he imparted to his family will live on. His family and friends will always cherish the time they spent with him, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
We are deeply saddened to hear of William Brooks Day’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.
