Wendy was born on August 30, 1948, in Nanaimo, British Columbia. Despite facing severe health challenges from a young age, including Glomerulonephritis and Henoch Schoenlein Purpura, Wendy’s resilience and passion for caring for others led her to a dedicated career in nursing. She graduated from St. Paul’s Hospital School of Nursing in 1972 and served in Montreal, QC, Langley, BC, and Winnipeg, MB.
Her dedication to her patients was unparalleled, treating everyone with dignity and empathy, whether in the ER, personal care homes, or private home care. Wendy’s career was cut short due to medical issues, yet her influence remained strong in the lives she touched.
Wendy’s husband, Horace Pfeiffer, and their children, including Chantelle Pfeiffer, are profoundly affected by her passing. Chantelle expressed on Facebook, “There are no words that could express the sadness that my family & I have felt with the passing of my mom. She was truly an amazing woman with a heart of gold. She was extremely selfless & accepted everyone as part of the family without hesitation.”
A fundraiser organized by her son, Horace Pfeiffer, has been set up to cover funeral expenses and support the nursing school where Wendy trained. As of now, $135 CAD has been raised out of the $20,000 goal, with donations from Anna Falcitelli, Charlotte Hadaller, and two anonymous donors.
