Wang Yee Vang’s family and friends remember him as a beloved father and a significant figure in the community, deeply admired by all who knew him.
Born in Laos to Cher Lue Vang and Yee Lor, Wang Yee Vang was the eldest of six siblings. Despite growing up in poverty, he enrolled in school at a young age, and later joined the military. He served for 15 years in the Hmong Lao Army, achieving the rank of Major before sustaining serious injuries. His contributions and the stories of his life are well known among the Hmong community, with many having heard his remarkable history multiple times.
He leaves behind a large family, including his three younger brothers, Nxtoov Vaag, Txaj Tshaaj, and Ntsuab Tooj, as well as his children, Toua, Ly, May Vue, Phia, Laotai, Mary, Kou, Toubee, TouChia, MyNou, Pao, ShueLong, and Michelle. Wang Yee Vang’s legacy also lives on through his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In this time of sorrow, his family continues to find solace in their faith, expressing gratitude to their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for His love and guidance. As they come together to honor Wang Yee Vang’s life, they are also reaching out to the community for support through a fundraiser organized by his daughter, May Fernandez. The fundraiser aims to raise $7,000, of which $1,250 has been raised so far from four donations, including a generous contribution of $1,000 from Amber Zane.
