Wanda Mason, Richmond, VA— Wanda Mason passed away recently after a long and difficult battle with health complications. She had shown incredible strength through multiple surgeries, including the amputation of both her legs, one in August and the other in November of this year. Wanda’s final days were spent in the ICU on a ventilator as she fought against a severe blood disease.
Her passing comes at a time of profound grief for her family. Tragically, while Wanda was in the hospital, she also lost her husband, who had been her steadfast support throughout her life. Despite these heartbreaking circumstances, her family is committed to honoring her last wish: a proper burial, as Wanda had expressed a desire not to be cremated.
To fulfill her final request, a fundraiser has been organized by her sister, Rosalind Stewart. While Wanda had some insurance, it will not fully cover the expenses of the burial, memorial service, headstone, and repass for family and friends. The fundraiser aims to help ease the financial burden and ensure that Wanda’s wishes are respected.
So far, $340 has been raised through generous donations from community members, including Napoleon & Robin Tyler, Sarah Chiles, Crystal Means, and Earnest Poole.
Wanda Mason’s strength and determination during her illness will be remembered by all who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience and love, which her family and friends will cherish forever.
We are deeply saddened to learn of Wanda Mason’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.
