Vince Avenatti, Elberta, AL—The community of Elberta, Alabama, is in deep mourning following the passing of Vince Avenatti. Vince was a beloved colleague, friend, and an inspiration to many within the field of healthcare compliance, accreditation, and quality improvement.
Vince joined JCR in 2013, bringing with him decades of experience in building and fire code enforcement for both commercial and residential buildings. His work significantly impacted the healthcare sector, particularly through the development and maintenance of a life safety code survey and documentation process that received acceptance from CMS regional offices. His expertise extended to conducting surveys of healthcare facilities to ensure compliance with Medicare LSC regulations and state licensure rules, as well as reviewing and approving building plans based on fire safety and ICC standards.
Vince’s contributions included co-authoring the CMS national award-winning Basic Life Safety Code training manual and authoring advanced training programs on fire safety inspection principles. His work also involved scripting for the 2000 Life Safety Code update satellite broadcast program.
Beyond his professional achievements, Vince was known for his profound generosity and kindness. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, from buying dinner for strangers to supporting neighborhood children. His heroism was evident when he nearly lost his life aiding neighbors during a hurricane three years ago. At the time of his passing, Vince was in the midst of building a dream house for his wife, Tonya. Unfortunately, the house remains unfinished, with Tonya now having to use a step ladder to access it.
To honor Vince’s memory and support Tonya during this difficult period, a fundraiser has been organized by Corrine Sloss and Elizabeth Sutherland. The funds raised will be donated directly to Tonya to help with the expenses. As of now, $725 out of a $5,000 goal has been raised, with contributions from Edward Browne, Candace Eden, Susan Senecal, Elizabeth Sutherland, and Corrine Gangl.
The community’s heartfelt condolences and support go out to Tonya and the entire Avenatti family. Vince’s legacy of kindness and dedication will forever be remembered.
We are deeply saddened by Vince Avenatti’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.
