His death has left a profound emptiness in the hearts of his family and the Kayenta community. Vermel was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, known for his infectious enthusiasm and dedication to his family.
Vermel’s dedication to his family was unwavering. He is survived by his wife, Denise Billy, and their five children: Dominique, DeVonna, Darnel, Kailey, and Isaiah Kescoli. His legacy also lives on through his three grandchildren and extended family members, including his siblings Velda, Verdell, and Verlaine. Vermel’s father, Bobby Yazzie, and mother, Ruby Moody-Yazzie, preceded him in death.
For years, Vermel worked with Peabody sub-contractors and Kayenta Unified School District.
