Tsehay Bekele, Rochester, MN— Tsehay Bekele passed away on November 3, leaving the community in deep sorrow. She faced a long battle with chronic illness, demonstrating remarkable courage and hope throughout her struggle.
Tsehay is survived by her husband, Surafel Worku Chernet, and their three children, along with her mother and sisters. Her absence has created a significant void in the lives of those who loved her, particularly in the St. Ourael Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church community, where she actively served on the parish council. Known for her endless smile and kind spirit, Tsehay was always willing to lend a helping hand.
A fundraiser has been initiated by Hanna Abebe to assist Tsehay’s family during this challenging time. The goal is set at $30,000, with $400 raised so far from generous donations, including $300 from Admasu Asfaw and $100 from Hared Mah.
Messages of condolence and support have poured in from friends and community members. Aida Aida expressed her heartbreak, stating, "It was a hard day for me… I just cannot believe you are gone." Bezawit Tefera also shared her condolences, saying, "I’m so sorry for your loss."
The community’s support during this time reflects the love and admiration they held for Tsehay. Her spirit will live on in the memories of those who knew her.
Our heartfelt prayers go out to Tsehay Bekele and her family during this difficult time.
