Sterling, VA—Trevor Brown, a beloved volunteer firefighter, passed away earlier this year on February 16, 2024, following a devastating home explosion in the Seneca Ridge community. His tragic passing has left a deep mark on his family, friends, and the entire neighborhood he helped protect.
Trevor was on duty with the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company when a propane tank explosion leveled a home on Silver Ridge Dr. The explosion, which occurred after the residents had been evacuated, injured 12 firefighters and two civilians. Unfortunately, Trevor did not survive, marking the first line-of-duty death in the history of the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company.
Trevor Brown’s death has profoundly impacted his wife and three young children, as well as the broader community. The site of the explosion remains an empty lot, now seen by many as sacred ground. In an effort to honor Trevor’s sacrifice and the resilience of the first responders injured that evening, the Seneca Ridge Homeowners Association is organizing a memorial project.
A fundraiser has been launched by Steven Honard, aiming to create a Quiet Green Space Park in the empty lot where the home once stood. The memorial park will honor not only Trevor Brown but also the firefighters who risked their lives that night to save others.
The community is encouraged to contribute to this cause, with the hope that the park will serve as a lasting tribute to Trevor’s selflessness and bravery.
We are deeply saddened by the loss of Trevor Brown and extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his family and the Sterling community. May this memorial park bring peace and serve as a reminder of his heroism.
