Tony Chen, Daly City, CA— Tony Chen passed away on December 18th, 2024, at the age of 31. His unexpected death has left a deep void in the hearts of those who knew him. Tony’s journey was marked by his incredible strength and unwavering positivity, despite battling stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer, which was diagnosed only a few months ago.
Tony’s illness began with a persistent cough that led to severe back and leg pain, initially thought to be sciatica. However, it was later discovered that cancer had spread to his bones. Throughout his fight, Tony underwent multiple treatments, including spinal surgery, but the cancer proved too aggressive. His spirit, however, never wavered, and he remained a fighter until the very end.
Known for his caring nature, humor, and hardworking spirit, Tony was a beloved figure in his community. He loved cooking, discussing machine learning, working out, and playing tennis. His compassion extended to his family, friends, and two dogs, all of whom he adored deeply. Tony’s infectious laughter and kindness made everyone feel welcome and appreciated.
To help cover funeral expenses, a fundraiser has been set up by Kristina Gong on behalf of Elena Harada, Tony’s wife. The funds will assist with the costs of the funeral service and cremation. Tony’s funeral will be held on January 10th, 2025, in Colma, CA.
