Tim was not only a dedicated serviceman but also a beloved cousin, friend, and mentor.
His cousin, Rich Specht, expressed profound grief and admiration for Tim, describing him as the big brother he never had. Rich shared how Tim shaped much of who he is today, always being there in times of need. Even after Rich faced the devastating loss of his son, Rees, Tim remained a pillar of strength and support.
Tim was diagnosed with colon cancer in February 2022. Despite his illness, he continued to be there for his family and friends, demonstrating resilience and unwavering support. Rich, in turn, attended nearly every doctor’s appointment, chemo infusion, and procedure with Tim, standing by him through his fight.
Tim’s love for sports, especially baseball, was well-known. He found joy in playing, umpiring, and watching the game. Rich’s own passion for baseball was deeply influenced by the lessons Tim shared during their youth. In honor of Tim’s memory, Rich has organized a fundraiser to establish a yearly scholarship at Tim’s hometown school of Miller Place. This scholarship aims to benefit a senior who shares Tim’s love for athletics, particularly baseball.
The fundraiser, "In Memory of Tim Scott: Support a Memorial Scholarship," has been set up by Rich Specht to benefit the ReesSpecht Life Foundation Inc. The goal is to raise $10,000, with all funds being matched by the foundation to support the Timothy Scott Memorial Scholarship. So far, $100 has been raised from a generous donation by Richard Specht.
