Old Bridge Township, NJ—The community is mourning the loss of Thomas Grusel Jr., who tragically passed away on August 14, 2024, at just 40 years old. Thomas, affectionately known as Tommy, endured many challenges in life, starting from a young age when he was struck by a car and spent six months in a coma. Despite his physical limitations, Tommy lived life to the fullest, enjoying baseball games, wrestling shows, concerts, and his favorite—coffee.
Tommy’s passing has left his family, especially his mother, Theresa Furkey, in deep grief. He had been battling a severe infection, Necrotic bowel sepsis, which ultimately led to his untimely death. The family is now faced with the unexpected burden of covering funeral and memorial expenses.
To assist with these costs, a fundraiser has been organized by Melissa Rodriguez Martinez, Tommy’s cousin. So far, $60 has been raised towards the $5,000 goal, with one generous donation from Gene Davis.
The family and friends of Thomas Grusel Jr. are reaching out to the community for support in honoring his memory and giving him the farewell he deserves. Any financial contributions, as well as sharing the fundraiser, are deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
Our hearts go out to the Grusel and Furkey families as they navigate this profound loss. We send our thoughts and prayers to them in their time of mourning.
