Terry Joe Walls, Jackson, TN— Terry Joe Walls, known to his friends and family as simply "Joe," passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 7, 2024, following a hospital stay. His sudden departure has left those who knew him in deep sorrow.
Joe, who was disabled and living on a limited income, faced many personal challenges in recent years. Despite these difficulties, he held a deep pride in his First Nation heritage, being a member of the shíshálh Nation – Coast Salish, and with roots in the Mama̱liliḵa̱la̱ lineage of the Kwakwaka’wakw territory. He was also known for his love of fishing and his cherished 1948 Willys Jeep pickup truck, which he held dear.
Though Joe was somewhat estranged from much of his family, he left behind a community that remembers his spirit. His family, struggling financially, has set up a fundraiser to cover the cost of his cremation services. The goal is to raise $2,000 for this purpose. As of now, $100 has been raised through generous donations from the community.
The family is grateful for the support shown during this difficult time, as even the smallest contribution will help ensure Joe is laid to rest with dignity. The fundraiser has been organized by Laura Jones and supported by a dedicated team, including Summer Loquet and Terri Boyo.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Joe’s family and friends as they navigate this profound loss.
