Tawnya Kay Foutch, Shawnee, OK— Tawnya Kay Foutch passed away on Monday, November 25th, at 7:57 p.m. The news has deeply affected her family, friends, and the community where she dedicated much of her life to helping others.
Tawnya, originally from Ulysses, Kansas, was a devoted EMT, paramedic, and registered nurse. She made a significant impact on the lives of those she cared for, whether in emergency settings or long-term care. Her colleagues and patients remember her for her calm demeanor, compassion, and unrelenting dedication to ensuring that others were well-cared for, especially during times of need.
Tawnya was known for her strong and fierce personality, described as a “soaking wet 100 lb mamma bear,” who would go to any lengths to protect her loved ones. She considered many of those she helped raise over the years as her own children and grandchildren, with countless individuals referring to her as “Mom” or “Crazy Granny.” Despite only having four biological children, Tawnya’s influence touched so many lives that she left behind a legacy of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Judy Foutch, her beloved son, Shadow Findley, and her dear friends Lori Ozborn and Amanda Keaton. She is survived by her sister, Tammy McMurtry, her children Aerial Foutch, Tianna Binns, Shamira Findley, and their families, along with numerous grandchildren and “bonus” children and grandchildren.
In honor of her wishes, Tawnya did not want a traditional funeral service. Instead, she asked for those who loved her to celebrate her life with margaritas and shared stories. Tawnya’s ashes will be spread in Florida, where the ocean held a special place in her heart.
A fundraiser has been created by Tianna Binns to cover cremation and associated costs, with a goal of $2,500. The family appreciates the thoughts, prayers, and support from all those whose lives were touched by Tawnya.
We are deeply saddened by Tawnya Kay Foutch’s passing. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and all who knew her during this difficult time.
