Susan bravely fought AML Leukemia, enduring 182 days in the hospital, 39 rounds of chemotherapy, whole-body radiation, and a stem cell transplant. Despite numerous post-treatment hospital stays, including battling shingles that left her blind in one eye and undergoing a total hip replacement, Susan continued to fight. However, her final battle against multiple infections, including E-Coli in her bladder and urinary tract and C-diff infections in her colon and GI tract, proved insurmountable.
David Baker has organized a fundraiser to cover the unexpected funeral expenses after discovering that a previous payment plan had been canceled in 2011. The family is now faced with the daunting task of raising $5,000 to cover these costs. As of now, $20 has been raised, thanks to a kind donation from Susan Vargas.
