Steven Gerrard Obote, Spanaway, WA—With deepest sorrow, we announce the tragic passing of Steven Gerrard Obote, affectionately known as Frank, on August 2, 2024. Frank’s life was cut short in a drowning accident at Spanaway Lake in Washington State. He was just 20 years old.
Frank was the beloved son of Eric Obote and Milka Mayaka, stepson to Syndia Kwamboka, and brother to Tahlia and Cameron. He was also a cherished grandchild of the King’oina Kenyuri family of Kemera, Nyamira County. Frank had recently moved to Washington State from Texas in March 2024 to connect with his family in Seattle before starting college in September, where he planned to study Biology.
Known for his vibrant personality, Frank was an energetic and enthusiastic young man with a passion for learning. His interest in biology, coupled with his curiosity about cars and planes, showcased his fascination with engineering and technology. Frank’s helpful nature and generous spirit left a meaningful impact on those around him, reflecting his genuine kindness and love for knowledge.
In honor of Frank’s memory and legacy, Stacey Osoro has organized a fundraiser with a goal of $40,000 to help cover funeral expenses and support the family during this difficult time. As of now, there are no donations, but the community is encouraged to contribute to this cause.
