Socorro Monero, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother from Aiken, SC, passed away on September 2, 2024, after a brief but serious battle with cancer. On August 13th, 2024, she was diagnosed with a mass in her liver, which had metastasized to her lungs and bones. Despite hopes of starting treatment, her condition deteriorated rapidly, and the cancer aggressively attacked her lungs, leading to her passing.
In the wake of her death, her granddaughter, Miroslava Gonzalez Mendez, has organized a fundraiser to help cover the unexpectedly high cost of Socorro’s funeral and burial. The family, unprepared for these financial challenges, is turning to the community for assistance. The goal of the fundraiser is to raise $6,000, but as of now, no donations have been made.
Miroslava and the Negrete Moreno family are asking anyone who is able to contribute, no matter how small the amount, to help them honor Socorro’s memory with a proper farewell. The funds raised will go entirely toward covering the funeral and burial expenses.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and keep them in our thoughts during this difficult time.
