Simone Joseph, a beloved mother, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2024. Her daughter, Raymonde Pierre, who had fought tirelessly to bring her mother to the United States from Haiti, now faces the heartbreak of saying goodbye after a long-awaited reunion.
Raymonde arrived in Michigan from Haiti 32 years ago and had been raising her two children as a single mother. Despite the financial struggles she endured, Raymonde worked hard to bring Simone and her brother to the U.S. in August 2023 under the Humanitarian Parole program. Unfortunately, Simone’s time in the U.S. was cut short just as Raymonde had started the immigration asylum process for her permanent residency.
Raymonde now faces the burden of arranging Simone’s funeral with very limited resources, as much of her savings went toward the immigration process. She has started a GoFundMe fundraiser to honor her mother and give her the burial she deserves. Any donations, big or small, would be deeply appreciated during this difficult time.
Simone Joseph’s passing leaves a void in her family, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched. We extend our deepest condolences and prayers to Raymonde and her family as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
