Shannon Marie Tierney, lovingly known as "Goat Mom" to her son Odin Thompson’s friends, passed away on October 12th, after a long and difficult 7-year battle with Vascular Dementia. She was surrounded by loved ones, including her childhood best friend, who stood by her side during her final days, marking a friendship that spanned over 60 years. Shannon passed peacefully at her home after being cared for full-time by her son Odin for the last three years.
Odin’s dedication to his mother was unwavering. Over the course of seven years, he split his time between caring for her at home in Port Townsend and overseeing her needs in memory care facilities. His selflessness was evident as he put his career and business, Moribund Records, on hold to ensure Shannon received the best care possible. The community recognizes the sacrifices Odin made and is now rallying to support him during this difficult time.
A fundraiser organized by Violetta Wolkoff-Price has been launched to help cover the costs of Shannon’s cremation and celebration of life. Friends and family are also working to support Odin with the financial strain from the final expenses related to her care.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Odin and all those who knew Shannon. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family during this time of grief.
