Scott Wilkie, Shoreham Beach, UK— Scott Wilkie, a cherished member of the community, passed away earlier this year at the age of 57 after a rapid battle with bowel cancer. His unexpected departure has left his family, friends, and the entire community in deep sorrow.
Scott, known for his big blue eyes, cheeky grin, and unmistakable Yorkshire laugh, was a beloved figure to many. Whether seen walking his dog on Shoreham Beach, dancing on tables at the Marlipins, or volunteering for the homeless, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His family fondly remembers him as a caring husband to Claudia and a loving step-father. His presence was a constant source of joy and support, especially to his stepchildren.
Despite being a hardworking man with two decades of service as a Scots Guard, Scott had fallen ill after the pandemic and had been out of work for some time. His passing came suddenly, leaving his family struggling to cover funeral costs after a significant reduction in social fund support.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by Isobel Berman to help with the remaining funeral expenses. The fundraiser, supported by the kindness of the community, also aims to raise awareness for Bowel Research UK, a cause close to Scott’s heart. His ashes were scattered at Shoreham Beach on his 58th birthday, as per his wishes.
Scott’s life, marked by generosity and love for his friends, family, and Shoreham, will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Scott’s family during this difficult time.
