Safety Pete, a beloved and proud Marine known by many, passed away on Sunday, September 22nd. His family, friends, and the entire Mechanicsburg, PA community are mourning the loss of a man who was cherished for his strength, character, and resilience.
Peter Jensen, his son, shared that Safety Pete had faced numerous health challenges leading up to his passing. In mid-July, he received a pacemaker, showing immense courage through the procedure. However, soon after, he was rushed to the hospital with symptoms that revealed a severe infection, which ultimately led to a complex series of medical complications, including sepsis, an enlarged spleen, and damage to his heart. Despite the family’s hopes and prayers, his condition worsened, and after a prolonged battle, he passed away surrounded by loved ones.
The family is seeking financial assistance to cover the funeral expenses and estate costs. A fundraiser organized by Peter Jensen has seen contributions from several kind donors, including Jeff & Debbie Sandler, Yolanda Celone, and Francisco Alcantar, who have donated to help the family honor Safety Pete’s final wishes.
Safety Pete’s legacy lives on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and everyone who knew him. His service as a Marine, his love for his family, and his indomitable spirit will never be forgotten. As Peter Jensen wrote, “Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face,” and though their father’s plans could not be fulfilled, the family is determined to give him the farewell he deserves.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jensen family during this difficult time.
