Lebanon, MO—The community of Lebanon is mourning the unexpected loss of 18-year-old Rudy Zevallos Jr., who passed away tragically on October 5th, 2024, after completing a half marathon. Rudy, a senior at Lebanon High School, had just crossed the finish line when his body temperature reached a dangerous level, causing his heart to stop. The exact cause of his passing remains unclear.

Rudy, affectionately known as Junior, was a dedicated student and athlete. He was set to graduate early in December and had aspirations of joining the Marine Corps, following in his father’s footsteps. Rudy’s competitive spirit shone through in every aspect of his life, from sports to academics, and even in his personal development. He immersed himself in studying the Bible, investing, and self-improvement, always striving to become the best version of himself.

Friends and family remember Rudy for his strong work ethic, his love of fitness, and the time he spent with loved ones. Whether working at the 7Brew drive-thru, hiking with his girlfriend Olivia, or playing poker with friends, Rudy made the most of every moment. He participated in many sports, including football, wrestling, and track, and rest was something he never seemed to need.

His untimely passing has left his family devastated. His mother, Stephanie; his father, Rudy; his sisters, Iyleena and Lorraina; and his future brother-in-law, Jaron, have asked for prayers during this difficult time. The community has rallied around them, and a GoFundMe page organized by Lorraina Zevallos has been set up to help cover funeral costs and other unexpected expenses. As of now, donations have been generously given, including $100 from Jennifer Donovan, $300 from Samalyse Santos, and $50 from Erin Jay.

On Facebook, many have shared their condolences and memories of Rudy. Lorraina Zevallos expressed her gratitude, saying, “Unfortunately along with unexpected tragedy, comes unexpected large expenses.
