Born on November 23, 1957, in Crestview, Florida, Ron was a man of strong faith and deep connections, cherished by all who knew him.
Ron’s early life was marked by frequent relocations due to his father’s military career, eventually settling in Gordonsville, TN. He excelled in football at Gordonsville High School, earning numerous accolades and going on to play as a defensive tackle at Middle Tennessee State University. His prowess on the field was matched by his dedication to his education, earning a BS degree in Physical Education.
In 1978, Ron married Debra Dement, the love of his life. Together, they built a life full of love, raising two children, David Lee Marshall and Christy Marshall Amsler. Ron’s passion for coaching led him to a successful career, guiding multiple teams to state championships and leaving a lasting impact on countless young athletes.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ron was a devoted family man. He adored his grandchildren, Lily and Mathis Marshall, and treasured every moment spent with his family. Ron was also an active member of Rocky Valley Baptist Church in Lebanon, TN, where he expressed his faith through service and song.
To honor Ron’s legacy, a fundraiser organized by Matt Feirn has been set up to support his family with the financial burdens that come with this profound loss. The community has already shown incredible support, raising $645 towards a $6,000 goal.
