Ronald Cole, Happy Valley, OR— The community is in mourning after the tragic passing of Ronald Cole. Ronald passed away after being struck by a moving vehicle while walking down I-5, near the 216, earlier today.
Ronald was a proud and dedicated member of the U.S. Navy, serving for 20 years in various roles. He was on active duty during the 2003-2011 Iraq/Global War on Terror and later re-enlisted in 2011, achieving the rank of HT2 (Hull Maintenance Technician Petty Officer 2nd Class), and eventually retiring in 2016. In addition to his military service, Ronald was also a wildfire firefighter in the Pacific Northwest and a member of the National Guard.
Known for his captivating storytelling, Ronald loved sharing his experiences, particularly his time at sea on the USS Kitty Hawk. His fond memories included a special Mother’s Day tour with his late mother, O’Enone Ross, and lighthearted adventures with his late wife, Jamie, and their US flight-approved service cat, Stitch, whom they adopted while stationed in Guam.
His unexpected passing has left his family devastated. His loved ones have launched a fundraiser to cover initial costs such as state processing fees, the death certificate, and cremation services. They aim to raise $2,600 to help during this difficult time, as the life insurance benefits are expected to take some time to process.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Cole family during this sorrowful time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they navigate this loss.
