Ron Willy Wilcox, Hastings, MI — The community is mourning the loss of Ron Willy Wilcox, who passed away recently. He was a beloved husband, father, and friend, remembered for his resilience and the inspiration he provided to everyone he met.
Ron was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in December of 2023. Despite spending 45 days at Lettinga Cancer Center in Butterworth Hospital and undergoing numerous chemotherapy treatments, he remained a fighter throughout his illness. On June 19th, he was readmitted to the hospital when leukemia spread to his spinal fluid. After a rigorous round of chemotherapy, he achieved remission for the leukemia in his spinal fluid by July 16th. However, he ultimately succumbed to multiple bacterial blood infections on July 20th, 2024.
Heather Armour, his daughter, has organized a fundraiser to help cover added expenses and to honor Ron with a Celebration of Life Gathering. So far, $735 has been raised out of the $5,000 goal, with significant contributions from Max Wilcox, who donated $500, and other generous donors such as Lila Dennis, Tammy VanBelkum, Katie Batts, and Kari Burd.
Heather Armour shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, urging people to donate or share the fundraiser link, and to keep the family in their prayers. Jan Dixon and Barb Ogden are among those who expressed their condolences. Jan wrote, "Many prayers and loving thoughts coming your way," while Barb commented, "Our thoughts and prayers and love are with you all. Checks on its way. Loved your Dad. He was an awesome man. Blessed to be a part of their lives."
Ron Willy Wilcox’s memory will live on through the love and joy he brought to his family and friends. His wife, children, and grandchildren will cherish the moments they had with him, finding comfort in the legacy he left behind.
