Robert, who converted to Islam 19 years ago, will not be laid to rest according to Islamic tradition but instead in line with his Catholic upbringing, a decision made to honor his mother Ellie’s wishes. Simone expressed her respect for Ellie’s wishes but remains focused on bringing Robert back to New South Wales where his children, family, and friends can visit and say their goodbyes.
