Robert DeMaso Sr., Burbank, IL—Robert DeMaso Sr. passed away suddenly on Saturday, August 10th, leaving his family and friends heartbroken. Known affectionately as "Bob," he was a loving father, Papa, and friend to many. His passing has left a significant void in the lives of those who knew him, especially his family, who are now faced with the challenging task of planning his final services.
Robert’s daughter-in-law, Samantha DeMaso, shared her grief and memories on Facebook, saying, “You were a hard-headed STROKE, who also happened to be a big goofball and loving papa & dad & father-in-law. He treated me as if I was one of his own these last 14 years. I’m going to miss that. I’m going to miss him. My heart is broken. I thought we had more time. I love you, Bob.”
The family is struggling with the financial burden of the funeral expenses. Samantha mentioned, "As we have navigated the many aspects that go into planning a funeral, we have encountered the financial aspect, which has been difficult to comprehend how we will have the funds needed for his services by Saturday, August 17th." The visitation for Robert DeMaso Sr. will take place on Friday, August 16th, from 3-8 pm at Lawn Funeral Home in Burbank, IL. A service will be held the following day at the same location at 10:30 AM, led by a minister from Our Savior Lutheran Church. The funeral procession will then proceed to Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, IL, where Robert will be laid to rest. His love for riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle was well-known, and the family has invited those who ride to join them in the funeral procession on Saturday morning.
The outpouring of support on social media has been overwhelming. Friends and family members have shared their condolences and memories. Andrea Sikorski, who worked with Robert, posted, “I’m gonna see if I can do a raffle basket and give any funds raised to the family. I absolutely adored him! Will miss seeing him around! Such a nice man!” Sarah Muralles also expressed her sympathy, writing, "Thinking of you and your family, Sam! Tell Rob we are praying for you guys."
