Robert "Bob" Schmidt Jr., Ogden, Utah— Robert "Bob" Schmidt Jr., aged 64, passed away on August 3, 2024, after a courageous battle with Stage 4 Cancer. The community mourns the loss of a man known for his kindness, humor, and generosity.
Born on September 15, 1959, in Ely, Nevada, Bob was a spirited and jovial presence throughout his life. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1977, proudly representing the "BOBCATS." For 40 years, Bob worked at Smith’s Grocery in the Frozen Foods department, where his dedication and willingness to help others made him a beloved colleague.
Bob’s life was rich with hobbies and interests. He was an avid football fan, loved singing karaoke, and had a passion for collecting diecast cars and assembling intricate puzzles. Bob also enjoyed card games, especially Canasta, coloring, and watching wrestling. However, his greatest joy came from spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Schmidt; daughters, Jamie Jacobson, Lindsay Favatella, and Rhiannon Chavez; siblings, Tami Katz and Scott Schmidt; eleven grandchildren, and many loving family members. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Robert Schmidt Sr., and his grandson, Aiden McPherson.
Jamie Jacobson has organized a fundraiser titled "Honoring Bob Schmidt Jr.: Support His Legacy," with a goal of $15,000. As of now, the fundraiser has yet to receive donations, but every contribution will help support Bob’s legacy.
A viewing for the immediate family will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 6 pm to 8 pm, and a memorial service to celebrate Bob’s life will take place at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah, on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 10 am to 12 pm.
Bob’s legacy of laughter, compassion, and community will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His spirit will continue to live on through the lives he touched.
