Rita’s children, Sherman and Soleil Golden, who had the privilege of seeing their mother support them through every stage of their lives, are now navigating this difficult time without her. She was an ardent supporter of her children, proud of their academic achievements, including Sherman’s graduation from Washington and Lee University in 2023 and Soleil’s recent graduation from Harvard University in 2024.
Rita’s life was marked by her service to her church and the wider community. For many years, she led the Bible Challenge program and dedicated time to the church nursery. She was always present to lend a hand, whether at the Preschool Carnival and Silent Auction, Vacation Bible School, or Trinity Soup Kitchen. Her unwavering faith and commitment to others left a lasting impact.
Rita was also known for her incredible spirit and resilience. Despite the challenges she faced, she remained strong for her family and those around her. Many of her friends have shared their heartfelt memories of her kindness and generosity.
