Rhys Owen Priestley, from England, has sadly passed away, leaving his family and community in deep sorrow. His mother, Adele, woke up on the morning of September 9th to the devastating discovery that her son was no longer breathing, marking the sudden end of a courageous life. Rhys had been laughing and smiling the previous evening, giving no sign that it would be his final moments with his family.
Rhys, who was just 21, had faced significant health challenges since suffering a brain hemorrhage at the age of 5 in 2007. The hemorrhage left him with complex medical needs, but despite the many hardships he endured, Rhys was known for his resilience. He spent nine months in the hospital following the hemorrhage, and throughout the years, his health steadily declined. Yet, Rhys never let this stop him from spreading joy. His laughter was infectious, and he brightened every room he entered. He was beloved by all who knew him, and his loss is deeply felt by his family and friends.
A fundraiser has been organized by Clare Jarvis to help cover the funeral expenses and give Rhys the send-off he deserves. So far, £700 of the £8,500 goal has been raised, with 19 people donating in support of the family. Terri Slater made a recent donation of £10, Chelsea Ganderton contributed the largest amount of £110, and Thomas Jolley was the first to donate with £20.
The sudden loss of Rhys has left his mother Adele, stepfather Barry, sister Demi, and brother Jack heartbroken. As they navigate this incredibly difficult time, the community’s support is essential in helping them honor Rhys’s memory.
We extend our deepest condolences to Rhys Owen Priestley’s family and friends. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family find strength and comfort during this tragic time.
