At 34 years old, Rhize dedicated their life to justice and community care, making significant contributions to Palestinian liberation, Black Lives Matter, and disability awareness.
Their diverse career included gem cutting, cultivating specialty peppers, and their notable achievement in indoor morel mushroom production. Rhize’s commitment to activism and as a trained street medic was deeply respected. They are survived by their mother Amy McCarthy, father Matthias Ermel, and sibling Lis Ermel.
A public memorial service will take place at Zao MKE Church in Milwaukee, WI, on Saturday, October 12th.
