Her untimely passing has left her mother, Rabeya Akther, devastated. The Akther family had migrated to Canada when Rezeya was just three years old, with hopes of building a better life away from the chaos of Bangladesh.
Tragically, on the night of August 3rd, those dreams were shattered when Rezeya was pronounced dead early Sunday morning. Rabeya, who had been a single mother to Rezeya, now faces an unimaginable loss. With Rezeya’s passing, Rabeya has decided that she will no longer live in Canada and plans to return to Bangladesh to be with her husband and family. Her final wish is to take Rezeya’s body back to Bangladesh, where she can be buried in the family graveyard.
To help ease the financial burden of fulfilling this wish, a fundraiser has been organized by Zafar Ahmed. As of today, $652 CAD has been raised out of the $20,000 goal, with donations from 25 generous individuals. The top donation so far is $200 from Sahil Chand.
